Hi, I'm Tran Van Ngoc (online as ngxccc). I am a software developer based in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
My path into computing didn't start with code—it started with taking apart computer hardware, troubleshooting broken operating systems, and wondering why computers freeze. That hands-on tinkering grew into a deeper curiosity about software: how operating systems manage resources, how network protocols communicate across machines, and how to write backend services that don't break under pressure.
In engineering, I prefer simplicity over cleverness. I value mechanical sympathy, deterministic behavior, and readable code. I'd rather understand a single system deeply than glue together five heavy frameworks I don't understand.
What I Care About
Most of my technical curiosity revolves around backend systems and data consistency:
I spend a lot of time thinking about concurrency control—how to prevent race conditions and duplicate executions in distributed environments using techniques like Redis Redlock and database pessimistic locking. I'm fascinated by transactional resilience patterns, such as the Transactional Outbox pattern for reliable message delivery and idempotent API design.
Beyond backend services, I do all my daily work in a minimal Arch Linux environment. Working close to the command line has taught me to appreciate small, single-purpose Unix tools, fast feedback loops, and efficient workflows. I also experiment with systems programming in Go to build lightweight CLI utilities.
Background & Life
I am currently studying Information Technology at Cao Thang Technical College. When I'm not writing code or debugging database queries, I enjoy practicing calisthenics, refining my terminal setup, and reading technical postmortems and system design notes.
